760 Area Code

Beginning Saturday local residents within the 760 area code will have to dial 1 plus 760 to contact local numbers.

We have been running out of numbers. The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has decided to over the 760 area code with the 442 area code. That means your neighbor who just bought a house may have a 442 area code while you keep your 760 code.

Remember, dial 1760 before you make any local call, unless you are calling outside the area code. In that case, you will need to dial a 1 and then the area code.
